Lauren Spear: Hi, Everyone! I’m Lauren Spear; and you’re watching or listening to the HorrorFam.com Podcast. And, today’s guest is Meosha Bean!

She is a… *is suddenly struck with how massive Meosha Bean’s resume/skillset is* Whoo! Wow. She does a whole lotta stuff! *regains the semblance of professional composure* She is a director, a writer, an editor, a cinematographer, sometimes an actress, and she runs MVB Films, and she runs the Creator to Creators Podcast, annnnnd… *is once again overwhelmed* Oh my gosh! She is one busy lady!! We set this up six months ago, because she is just so, SO busy! *laughs*

And, uh, here she is! *waves* Hi, Moesha! *instantly realizes her dyslexia betrayed her* Oop! Sorry. Meosha!

Meosha Bean: Hiiiiiiiiii! Nope. You’re good! *friendly bow with prayer hands* Hello, hello, hello! Thank you for having me. And what an amazing introduction! I didn’t realize I did so many things! *laughs*

Lauren Spear: And I’m sure I left some things out! You do horror feature films, short films, music videos… You’re just… *flustered noises* The scope of what you do is… crazy! *laughs*

Meosha Bean: *laughs*

Lauren Spear: I don’t know how you’re not just exhausted. Perpetually. *laughs*

Meosha Bean: You know? I think you’re right. I think that’s the word. I’m a little crazy! *laughs*

Lauren Spear: Well,

I just watched your upcoming film

Meosha 2025 stalker horror movie

Lauren Spear (continuing): named after yourself – MEOSHA. And it’s an hour and two minutes long, and I don’t want to give any spoilers, but would you like to talk about it in a non-spoiler-y way?

Meosha Bean: *chuckles* Let’s see. Hmm. *rubs palms together, thinking*

Isn’t that the most narcissistic thing to say? “Meosha… your film… MEOSHA!” *laughs while also covering her face in embarrassment* It’s like, “Oh, God! It sounds horrible when I think about it or hear it out loud!”

No, but, it’s funny how that title came about: My partner – film partner – he… Francesco Monti! Fantastic director who… We actually worked together on a few projects! We did Project Paranoia together as well, that he directed. And we were talking about this… Like a particular idea, just kind of throwing it out, and…

I have a fascination with anything that has to do with mental health. Just… Depression. Like films in that realm. And I had this idea and we… I sat down and talked to him about it. And he was like, “That sounds interesting.” And I’m like, “Yeah. Think Gothika meets…” I don’t know. It’s, like, diced in realism but also a little… It’s all over the place! But it’s definitely to do with mental health.

But this character, I also based it upon a situation… It has like a sliver… It’s kind of with stalking. It deals with stalking as well. And I feel like a lot of women, particularly, have to deal with that. Especially in the entertainment business or just in general. But, in the entertainment business, I did have a situation with a… Someone who really likes my stuff. My work. Annnnnd… It was to the point where, you know, it was getting a little… *holds up hands in a ‘please back off, you’re getting creepy’ motion* …you know. “I like your stuff!” But then it was like… He was tagging me in everything, asking for where I live, and like… It was just a little too much!

And, I can see how, I guess, what you do and put yourself out there with can… People kind of can have this idea or perception of you?

So, I was like, “Let’s make something that is centered around a woman that is dealing with that… That receives a package at the door that’s, you know, mysterious!” And it kind of just goes from there. But it definitely deals with a stalker. Stalker behavior. Which I find always very fascinating.

Francesco Monti Project Paranoia Meosha Bean

Lauren Spear: Yeah… We briefly spoke before the show about how I had a stalker about 20 years ago and… It was a hard watch! You really nailed just how it feels. That sort of being in a fish bowl and being constantly [observed]. The dread. It was… It was a hard watch! *chuckles*

Meosha Bean: Oh! *places hand over her heart* Well, I’m glad you enjoyed(?) it, but I’m sorry that it was hard to watch. But, um, I’m glad that you’re out… That that situation’s over and… Thank God!

Lauren Spear: I think it SHOULD be a hard watch though! Given the subject matter! I think that was… *scrambles to clarify her thoughts/feelings* Like, emotionally, I didn’t “enjoy” it; but I also thought “Wow. This is well done, if I’m not enjoying it!” *laughs, hoping her explanation regarding a film’s emotional impact doesn’t always equate to ‘joyful’ entertainment but that it can still resonate as a powerful story*

Meosha Bean: *laughs, understanding what Lauren’s trying to say* Thank you. *bows with gratitude* Thank you.

Lauren Spear: *relieved laugh, knowing Meosha understood her opinion that films tackling emotionally difficult topics should be emotionally difficult viewing experiences*

And you are the primary actress in that film as well!

Meosha Bean actress

Lauren Spear (continuing): And, the last scenes in particular, you really go for it!

Meosha Bean: Yeah! You know, it… It’s funny. My film partner, Francesco, he was like, you know, “I want you to really just lose yourself in the emotion! Just do it! Don’t be afraid to… You’re gonna look crazy, but that’s what we want. We want you look absolutely nuts! We want you to seem… Just go. Just perform.” And he would keep the camera just going! And I’m just like, “All right. Are we gonna cut soon??” *laughs* And he’s just not cutting! And I’ve just gotta really find that and keep going – dig deeper!

And we played it back a few times and, on playback, I was just sitting there like, “Where did I go?!” And he was like, “Whoa. That’s creepy, Meosha.” And I was like, “Yeah.” *laughs* I didn’t realize it looked like that, you know?

Lauren Spear: *laughs, nodding, remembering the MEOSHA scenes she’s referring to*

Meosha Bean: But it was good. I love characters that are complex and situations that require you to kind of really go there. To those places that, you know, can be a bit scary. For sure.

Lauren Spear: Yeah.

One of the things that I thought was interesting was the way you guys filmed it. It was always either… It was sometimes in first-person or just over-the-shoulder. Like, you barely, until the… later… You don’t see yourself. You kind of… *realizes she’s floundering with this description and decides to try again with fewer words* It’s filmed in a way that it’s like we are YOU!

Meosha Bean: Yes! Yes. And I like that you felt that way! That’s exactly what I really want… That was literally the idea of… It was purposely done that way to show… To feel like an immersive kind of feeling. Like the watchers are also IN her… Like we’re living her experience! And we’re that person.

From… From like a gamer’s point of view! *mimics holding a controller, playing video games*

Lauren Spear: Yeah!! It was like a video game!

Meosha Bean: Yeah! *laughs* That’s literally how we tried to do it!

And I felt like the part where you see it in… The full picture of what’s really happening – the truth, the reality of what happened – and when it went from her view which was… not so much. It was not… Uh. Questionable.

Lauren Spear: *wary of revealing spoilers* Yeah…

The bulk of the film – the first 50 minutes or so – you [the audience] ARE this character and then you get pulled out! *uses her hands to gesture seeing from a first-person perspective to third-person*

Meosha Bean: I’m so glad you enjoyed that!

Lauren Spear: Yeah! That was really unique. It was really cool.

Meosha Bean: Thank you. Thank you.

Lauren Spear: And, anyway, MEOSHA – the movie, not *gestures to Meosha Bean*

Meosha Bean model

Meosha Bean: *laughs*

Lauren Spear: …is coming out on streaming platforms! There are a few that have MEOSHA the movie now, and then it’s going to be on other platforms by the end of this year.

Meosha Bean: Yeaaaahhh! I’m excited about it!

I just hope people don’t judge me.

Both: *laugh*

Meosha Bean: And think I’m actually crazy! “Oh, I knew that girl Meosha was a little nuts!”

Both: *laugh*

Lauren Spear: And…

You also have a ton of movies up on your YouTube channel!

green height point

Lauren Spear (continuing): On the MVB Films YouTube channel.

And you came out with “Green Height Point” last month, in October. And that seemed like sort of like a Twilight Zone sort of thing. Is that… Did I get that right?

Meosha Bean: Yeah!

Lauren Spear: With the feeling…?

Meosha Bean: Nailed it! Absolutely. Absolutely. I mean, I love The Twilight Zone and a little Alfred Hitchcock-esque kind of vibes. Very… I love that.

Alfred Hitchcock is definitely one of my… Someone that I admire. And I always have! And that’s why I really wanted to pursue the horror genre. Because I just felt like he was beyond his time, and I like how he would tell stories that kind of felt… That could be real! Like, you know, Rear Window and The Birds. Even though, obviously… *starts to doubt the bird apocalypse and then reconsiders* I don’t know! It could. It could happen! *laughs*

Alfred Hitchcock The Birds

Meosha Bean (continuing): But “Green Heights Point” was an old script that I wrote when I was like in high school or… *thinks* Yeah! High school. Definitely. And I never actually made it then, and so… I don’t know! A couple of years go by and I was kind of cleaning out something of mine and I found it. And I was like, “Oh my God! ‘Green Heights Point!’ Oh my goodness. This script.”

And I was reading it and I was like, “Oh! This is horrible!” *laughs* It was at the tip of my mind in my high school years and now… But the idea was there. So, I was like “let’s see if I can rewrite this.”

So, I did. And it was during, I think, the end of COVID. And we shot it sometime later. And… yeah! It just became this concept of two families experiencing, you know… Well. Something that is like… It’s the town. The town is very, like… *uses her hands to indicate scary/monster vibes* Or IS it the town?! Or is it just ourselves? *puts her hands on her chest to indicate internal struggles/scares* You know? So, there’s a lot of questions that you – when you watch it – I think that you kind of like…

There’s a lot of things I like to touch on. Again, with… A lot of my films have to do with just coming back to self. Like really searching within. Like WHY is something happening. Is it just… Are we running away from ourselves and THIS is why things are happening? Or, is it a lot of different things?

But, I dunno! I really liked Hitchcock and The Twilight Zone and so I wanted to keep it in… *moves her hands in a nebulous fashion* that way. Very mysterious.

But, also, the announcer at the opening of the short! I really liked that concept of, you know… I thought he was great!

Meosha Bean Green Heights Point awards

Lauren Spear: Yeah!

Meosha Bean: Very good friend of mine. *chuckles* Bradford Wilson. He was like… He’s got that voice! You know?

Lauren Spear: Yeah. His voice was great!

Meosha Bean: *laughs*

Lauren Spear: I also loved that you left the bloopers in for the end!

Meosha Bean: Oh! You liked that??

Lauren Spear: I did!! When he’s like, “I bet you’re wondering… what my line is.” *laughs* I loved that. That was just so charming!

Meosha Bean: Yes! *laughs* I love that. I’m glad that you enjoyed that! Because… yeah! I felt like there was so much dread. And it was sad. And, so, I was like… “Hmmm. Let’s make it a little light at the end!”

Lauren Spear: Yeah!

Both: *laugh*

Lauren Spear: It was nice! It was like “Oh…” *sad face* and then “Aww!” *happy face*

Meosha Bean: But you enjoyed it…? Did you enjoy the short?

Lauren Spear: Oh, yeah. Yeah. I did.

Meosha Bean: Oh, good.

Lauren Spear: But, yeah, I did appreciate the bloopers at the end.

Meosha Bean: *chuckles*

Lauren Spear: Because it does get very dark! So it was nice to be like… *uses hand to gesture being uplifted* “Okay. We’re okay now!”

Meosha Bean: Yeah!

Both: *laugh*

Lauren Spear: That’s one of the reasons… Like, with Little Shop of Horrors, they changed the ending from the play – the musical play to the musical movie.

dont feed the plants 1986 little shop of horrors original ending

Meosha Bean: Mmhmm.

Lauren Spear: Where, in the play, you get to see the actors all come back out again and take their bows and you’re like, “Okay. They’re fine.” But, in the movie [if they’d kept the play’s ending], it would be just like, “Ohhhhhhh… Oh dear. This didn’t end well!”

Meosha Bean: *chuckles*

Lauren Spear: So, I liked that, you know, you had your actors come back out like “Heyyyy!” *waves happily*

Meosha Bean: Yeah. Right? *laughs*

Lauren Spear: “We’re all okay!”

Meosha Bean: Yeah. “We’re all alive!!”

Lauren Spear: *chuckles and shrugs* Yeah. I dunno. I liked that.

Meosha Bean: Thank you. I’m glad! I’ve had a few people say that, “Oh, it ruined the movie!!” And I’m like, “No! Really?? I’m sorry. I’m sorry it ruined it for you!”

Lauren Spear: Oh no!

Meosha Bean: But I… I liked the little happy ending!

Lauren Spear: Yeah! I appreciate a happy ending. There’s enough bad endings in real life. I like a happy ending in my movies. *laughs*

Meosha Bean: Yay! *laughs*

Lauren Spear: But my favorite on [the MVB Films YouTube channel]… That I’ve seen

You have SO many things! For me to have seen all of them… *chuckles and waves hand to indicate apology for the impossibility* …just yet. Maybe someday!

Meosha Bean: *chuckles*

Lauren Spear: But, as of now, I haven’t seen everything yet. There’s just too many!

Meosha Bean: Yeah.

Lauren Spear: But, my favorite thing of yours that I’ve seen is a film that was only 58-seconds long, and it was called…

“Below”

Lauren Spear (continuing):  And I don’t want to give ANY spoilers, but everyone needs to see it! It was so, so fun. I watched it and then immediately went and showed my dad and my husband.

Meosha Bean: *chuckles* Awesome.

Lauren Spear: That was so fun.

Meosha Bean: Awesome. I love that! I love that you enjoyed “Below.” I just felt like it was a great concept. It was really… I think people can expand on that as a feature. Who knows? Maybe one day.

Lauren Spear: Oh, yeah.

Meosha Bean: Or a series! Because I think it has the mystery behind it of, you know, the… The doppelganger kind of concept. Which I’m obsessed with! *chuckles* You know? Doppelgangers and “What Ifs.”

Lauren Spear: *chuckles*

Meosha Bean: If you meet your doppelganger, you know… Would you like them? Or would you run away?

Lauren Spear: *chuckles*

Meosha Bean: So, yeah, it was fun. It was fun making it. I enjoyed making “Below.”

Great actors! Andrew Lloyd Preston – he was the guy, you know, on the bed. And he did a great job. And… yeah! It was fun.

Lauren Spear: Yeah! Everyone needs to see that one. It’s a beautiful exercise in brevity. That you can do so much in so little time. It’s under a minute long, and it… Everything that needed to happen, happened!

Meosha Bean: Thank you. Thank you. I’m so glad you enjoyed it!

Lauren Spear: I did. *nods*

Meosha Bean: *chuckles*

Lauren Spear: So, you mentioned Alfred Hitchcock as being one of your inspirations and sort of your first forays into horror. But, I guess, going off of that…

How did you get into horror?

Meosha Bean: That’s a great question. Definitely… I rented the Alfred Hitchcock Presents series one summer when I was, like, 16 – 15 or 16-years-old – and, at the time, VHS tapes. So, yeah, that tells you how old I am! *laughs*

Alfred Hitchcock Presents

Lauren Spear: I am also 40, so… *laughs, acknowledging that only 30+ guests remember renting VHS tapes*

Meosha Bean: Yeah? *laughs* Oh, you’re young. You’re young!

Lauren Spear: *laughs*

Meosha Bean: So, I brought it home and I just binged, you know? Like… Wow! I really just…

Like, “Hello. I’m Alfred Hitchcock.” And then he turns to the side… I just thought that was SO cool! I was like, “This guy is just so cool!!” *excited fangirl motions with her hands*

And the stories were just…! And…! And they honestly could happen sometimes! But it was, obviously, exaggerated in a lot of ways… But it was just so well done! Excellent.

I feel like Alfred Hitchcock was just so ahead of his time. And, I mean, I studied him and I wanted to make horror films. I went, “I want to do what he’s doing!”

So, I got a YouTube channel back in 2006. I started my other channel. And I just started making these short films and putting them on there. Posting my shorts. And, after some time, people were like, “Oh my God! We love these shorts!” And they were getting a lot of views! And I kept it going and I was like, “Oh, wow. People are receiving these well!”

And that was really my first introduction to the horror genre and why I wanted to get in it. Because I felt like… All the things you can tackle and talk about in the horror genre is just endless.

And, I mean, what a great way to learn! And still scare people at the same time. *chuckles*

Alfred Hitchcock side profile

Lauren Spear: Yeah! Horror is like the most… There are SO many subgenres within the horror genre! Like you said – it has “endless” possibilities!

There’s always something to be afraid of. *chuckles*

Meosha Bean: Yes. Always. Always. Yeah.

And I love that!

I did a documentary called Horror Noire: The History of Black Horror and that was basically, you know, back in 2019, but that… And I’m so glad I did do it! But I learned so much. Just the history of horror! But, also, how African Americans were depicted in the horror genre in Hollywood.

I mean, some films… I had no idea! That I’d never actually seen. I was like, “Oh my God!” I was learning, as I was there, which made me go back and watch a bunch of… Like, Blacula! In, I mean, like, you know, the ‘70s! The vampire film. *laughs* And the Black Exploitation era. That was really cool!

But there’s so many things that the horror genre does. It’s pretty cool!

Horror Noire Meosha Bean featured horror director

Lauren Spear: That is pretty cool! *chuckles*

What are some of your favorite horror films, besides your own?

Meosha Bean: Oof! *laughs* All right. Hmmm…

Lauren Spear: *giggles as Meosha Bean ponders every horror fan’s most difficult question to answer*

Meosha Bean horror film favorites

Meosha Bean: You know, I… I don’t know if you consider this horror, but I really enjoyed the movie The Others! I felt like… Oh. And I love Nicole Kidman! Oh my goodness.

That film, to me… Again, you can look at it as, obviously, at that time… I felt like it was one of those stories that confronted mental health as well!

Lauren Spear: *laughs* Yeah!

Nicole Kidman in The Others 2001

Meosha Bean: Also… You know? *laughs, seeing that Lauren is familiar with the themes of The Others* But, also, the idea that she ends up killing all her kids and not coming to terms with that! And she’s the ghost! You know? They’re ghosts! And it’s like “Oh no! My God!!”

Lauren Spear: *chuckles* Those were some… 24-year-old SPOILERS there! *laughs*

Meosha Bean: Yeah. Yeah! That was a great film.

So, The Others, and…

Get Out was… My God. It was really good! Jordan Peele. For that time. And he got an Oscar for that I believe?! Which was the first, I think, horror movie to get an Oscar? Ever??

Get Out 2017

Lauren Spear: I think…um… *knows Get Out didn’t win Best Picture and wasn’t the first horror movie to get an Oscar, but can’t remember whether or not it actually won any Oscars from its multiple nominations*

Meosha Bean: I don’t think they had… That they took the horror genre seriously. Like the Oscars actually never really…

Lauren Spear: Well, yeah.

Jordan Peele Get Out Oscars

Meosha Bean: It was like… *dismissive tone Oscar folks use in regard to horror films* “Oh, yeah… Pfft.” *chuckles*

Lauren Spear: You could make a whole series of shows and articles on all the Oscar snubs for horror movies! *chuckles*

Meosha Bean: I know! Yeah. Yeah.

And I feel like, at that time, no one had seen anything like that. But it was a very cool concept.

which six horror movies were nominated for an oscar

Meosha Bean (continuing): And I liked Us. I really enjoyed Us, that he did as well.

I really like stories… I find myself… I like stuff like…

The Arrival! You know? It’s horror but sci-fi?

Lauren Spear: Yeah…

Meosha Bean: I really enjoyed The Arrival. I felt like that was just brilliantly shot. Such a good film.

I just… I don’t know! I think I just like things that are on the “off…” Off the beaten path! Not on the path of what’s considered the “normal” to like. I like stuff that’s completely different! Those are, I think, my favorites kind of horror or thriller kind of films.

Lauren Spear: Okay. Yeah. That makes sense.

What’s your favorite Alfred Hitchcock film?

Meosha Bean: OOOOOOOOOOOOOH! That’s HARD!! *agonized noise*

Lauren Spear: *chuckles, empathizing with the struggle*

Meosha Bean: I’m gonna say… I’m gonna definitely say Psycho.

Alfred Hitchcock Psycho alternate poster

Lauren Spear: Okay.

Meosha Bean: You know? We can’t leave… That’s… Forever, it will be a classic!

Lauren Spear: Yeah.

Meosha Bean: Again: Mental Health. *laughs*

Lauren Spear: Yeah. *laughs* “Mental health” and a bit of a twist!

Meosha Bean: *laughs* Yeah. Exactly! And I like that it also…

I don’t know if you saw that series that just came… That Ryan Murphy just directed. It was part of the Monsters series called The Ed Gein Story.

Lauren Spear: No. I haven’t seen it yet.

Meosha Bean: Ohhh… It’s… Wow. It’s… It’s…

It has very much Psycho…uh… *chuckles* There’s some intersections there! And I was like, “Wowwww…”

It’s based on a true story about a guy. The Ed Gein story. The guy… He was a butcher. Like, he butchered people – women – and wore their faces and stuff. So, it was very… It’s very dark!

But he had this trauma bond with his mom.

Ryan Murphy Monster The Ed Gein Story Netflix series

Lauren Spear: Ah. Mmhmm.

Meosha Bean: This love for his mom. And I think that that’s kind of…

And I think that’s what inspired Psycho, if I’m not mistaken. The Ed Gein story. Alfred Hitchcock was inspired by the Ed Gein story – the actual story of the man that did it. Like how he killed women and stuff.

It was… It’s a really good series. I think it’s on Netflix?

Lauren Spear: *chuckles* So… *counts off recurring Meosha Bean themes on fingers*

Mental Health and Twists and Trauma…

Meosha Bean cinematographer

Lauren Spear (continuing): They’re all recurring themes in your work! For fictional horror.

But you also go into some real-life horrors as well! Real-life traumas.

You have a series of audio… documentaries…? I don’t know what you’d call it [in terms of media classification]! But it’s called Church Hurt.

Did you want to talk about that at all?

Meosha Bean: Yeah! I mean, you know, absolutely. I feel it’s a…

I’m SO proud of it!

I felt like this project, Church Hurt, was – and IS – so important. Universally. Whether you’re a Catholic background, Christianity, Protestant, whatever you are. I feel like this is a universal problem that happens to a lot of people.

And, you know, growing up myself, as a preacher’s kid, in church… I’d see a lot of different things that contradict… Contradictory…you know… That would contradict the Word and how people would act would be something different. And you’re just like, “Wait a minute. The Bible says ‘this’ and we should love people and… What’s happening here?!”

So, one of the things… It was inspired by a friend of mine who actually committed suicide.

si help available

Lauren Spear: Oh! I’m so sorry.

Meosha Bean: Thank you.

It was a friend of mine that I’d known… Since almost all of my life! And he’d always been a very happy and chipper guy. And I had NO idea that he had been going through… this situation. So, it’s… This is definitely me paying homage to him and his legacy.

And it’s just… I felt like it’s just such an important project. That I had to continue the work. So, we’re in Season Two, right now, working on it. *voice starting to crack from emotion* So… excited about it.

Lauren Spear: Ohhh… Well, I’m so sorry… Um. Yeah. The 14-year anniversary of a friend of mine who…uh…you know… is coming up. And… yeah. “Chipper” guy! He was a budding standup comedian. And… you know…

It’s just like… You never know.

Meosha Bean: You never know. Wow. Yeah. I’m sorry to hear that.

Lauren Spear: Ah. Yeah. *swallows hard* Well! Same to you. *awkward laugh* Um… WHOO!! *lets out big exhale and rocks back and forth to self-soothe* “Trauma Meosha.” *chuckles*

Meosha Bean: *chuckles, acknowledging Lauren made a callback to the nickname she gave herself pre-show* You know?? I… I don’t mean it to be an episode… A very sad, sad episode! But, yeah. You know, I feel it’s important to talk about these things. I think it’s the start of HEALING of a lot of things.

I think sometimes we try to run away from it but, I think, if we try to tackle these things head-on we can ALL begin to heal!

Lauren Spear: Yeah. *nodding* Yeah.

Meosha Bean: Hopefully that’s what this project does.

Lauren Spear: Yeah. I hope so too! It seems like it’s got a lot of potential [to help] and I’m glad the first season went so well for you. And season two is coming up!

Meosha Bean: Yeahhhhhhhh! Season Two! *chuckles*

Meosha Bean Church Hurt audio series

Lauren Spear: We talked briefly before the show about how horror can be cathartic and there’ve been scientific studies on how, you know, horror can help people to get over things and also prepare for things! And I think that YOUR work has a lot of potential for people to work through some things with. *chuckles*

Meosha Bean: Thank you. Thank you. I hope so, too!

You know, we’re here for whatever time we’re here for. But I try to use my platform for good. If not be a mirror or some type of, you know, like…

I’m not afraid to talk about the dark things. Because, sometimes, in order for light to come… we have to shine it on the darkness! So that we can…you know… SHINE! *laughs*

Lauren Spear: Yeah! *chuckles* It takes a whole LOT of darkness to completely obscure a room, but only a matchstick to light it back up again!

Meosha Bean: I love that!

Lauren Spear: So, we’ll try to be little bright spots!

Meosha Bean: Absolutely! Absolutely. That’s…

That’s what YOU are! You have this very beautiful, vibrant, very LIGHT about you. So, thank you for everything that you do!

Lauren Spear: *visibly blushing* Oh! *laughs* Thank you!!

But this isn’t about ME!

I want to at least, before the show’s over…

How can people find you and what you do?

Lauren Spear (continuing): I already mentioned your YouTube channel! *gestures to the marquee/letter board next to her* You should look for “Meosha Bean” or “MVB Films” [on YouTube]. But where else can people find you and find your work?

Meosha Bean: Yeah! So, you can find me on Instagram. I’m finally back on there! *audio cuts out*

Lauren Spear: Oh! You…You… Are you there…??

Meosha Bean: Also…

Lauren Spear: Oh! I’m sorry. You froze for a minute!

Meosha Bean: Oh no!!

You can find me on Instagram at @MeoshaBeanOfficial. Also, I’m on Facebook under “MVB Films” as well. So, I post a lot of updates and interviews there.

And… yeah! You can just Google “Meosha Bean” and everything will come up.

Meosha Bean MVB Films

Lauren Spear: Well, that’s great! And… *thinks* You started MVB Films when you were, like, 13 or something, right?

Meosha Bean: Oh YEAH! I was, like, really young! Because I was doing the little shorts and stuff. And my mom and dad were like, “Yeah. You might want to get a legal LLC.” And so we got that and they helped me start MVB Films Productions. So, I’ve had that for a looooooooooong time now.

So, yeah. I’ve been making projects under MVB Films since I was a little… A little kid! *laughs*

Lauren Spear: *laughs* That’s amazing!

You do so many things. I don’t know how you’re not just like… *tips over backwards, eyes closed*

Meosha Bean: I feel like I need to do MORE, honestly! It’s… It’s crazy, right? I don’t know! I feel like I need… That there’s more I need to do! I don’t know.

Lauren Spear: You had a post on your Instagram where you were going bungee jumping that said… You had a Morgan Freeman quote, I think, that said, “If you’re not living on the edge, you’re taking up too much space!”

Meosha Bean: Yeah!

Both: *laugh*

Meosha Bean: Oh yeahhh! You gotta live life on the edge! You know? We’ve got ONE life. And I say: Live it.

Lauren Spear: Yeah.

Meosha Bean: You know? Make history!

Lauren Spear: Yeah, and… *chuckles* I think that’s one of the things horror can teach us too! It’s like…

horror director Meosha Bean interview

Meosha Bean: Yes!!

Lauren Spear: *chuckles*

Meosha Bean: Absolutely it does. I like that! “Live in fear or live through it.” Absolutely. I like that. *nods*

Lauren Spear: Oh! Well. Thank you!

Both: *laugh*

Lauren Spear: Well, is there anything else that you wanted to talk about while I’ve got you here? I know that you’re the busiest woman on the planet, but…

Both: *laugh*

Meosha Bean: Oh gosh. Oh man. Ohhh! Noooo. I…

For right now, for season two of Church Hurt, I’m looking for people who have stories that… You know. A “church hurt” experience. That… Who don’t mind sharing their testimony! With us. For season two. Because, I feel like…

And if you DO have stories, definitely reach out to me directly! To my email.

I’m excited to hear these new stories for season two. But I already have a few that I’m just like, “WOW.” I’m so… Blown away by some people’s experiences that they’ve had – and how they got THROUGH it! So, it’s sad, but it’s also beautiful at the same time.

So, please, if you have… Anyone that’s out there: Don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly! I’d love to hear from you.

Lauren Spear: All right!

Well, thank you, Meosha!
