None of the creators below have paid to be featured here — because we believe that lacking a marketing budget shouldn’t equate to a lack of eyes on your project. That said, I haven’t I had the chance to experience every creation personally. I do my best to make sure each entry is horror-related and take it in good faith that each creator has represented themselves and their projects honestly.

Fall 2025 Feature Length Indie Horror Films

The Killer Within

The Killer Within 2025 indie horror ES Productions

The Killer Within co-director Ethan Diddlemeyer said: “We are ES Productions a small indie film making company run by myself and Sebastian Fischer. This is our first full length film but also first film we’ve done in color. This movie follows a group of kids who go camping for the weekend and find themselves being hunted by a creepy, cultish serial killer in a pale white mask. We have a unique group of characters in this film that I think you guys will really enjoy as well as a truly terrifying killer. The movie will definitely give off heavy 70’s/80’s cheesy horror slasher movie vibes being inspired by films like Friday the 13th, Halloween, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Also, with a hint of comedy as well. I think y’all will fall in love with watching it just like we did while making it.”

ES Productions has made The Killer Within available for everyone to view in full on their YouTube channel. They’re also extremely active on their Instagram page, sharing behind-the-scenes tidbits for this and their other indie horror projects.

Gnome Sick: 7 Slays Til Mithras

Gnome Sick 2025 indie horror film

“Father Christmas” wrote to me to announce that Gnome Sick: 7 Days Til Mithras is returning to Tubi, Amazon Prime, and Fandango at Home on October 10th! This Christmas-themed horror film briefly hit streaming over the summer and then disappeared, but it’s coming back – don’t miss it again and end up on Father Christmas’ “Naughty” list.

I was also told that a limited BluRay release from Vinegar Syndrome is slated for late November/early December and that a special cast & crew screening + signing will be held around that time as well. Keep an eye on the Gnome Sick Instagram page for updates on those events!

Slaughter at Camp Swinelake + The Yellow Balloon

Timothy Waldron trandgender scream queen upcoming horror films

Transgender Scream Queen Timothy Waldron wrote in to announce she’s going to be featured as an actress in TWO upcoming 2025 indie horror films – Troma’s Slaughter at Swinelake and Jason Morris’ The Yellow Balloon: The Curse of Vincent Vile. She hopes you’ll check out both films when they become available and that you enjoy her performances!

The Mystery of Dipyramidion

poster the mystery of dipyramidion 2025

Here’s the email I received about The Mystery of the Dipyramidion: “Dark fantasy collides with found footage in this surreal cosmic horror-comedy from producer and genre actor Nathan Head (Netflix’s Robert and the Toymaker, the upcoming Dracula: Rise of the Vampire). Presented as a chaotic comedy-mockumentary from the online vlog of an eccentric amateur historian, the story follows the discovery of an ancient relic — the Sky Key — that opens portals to alien worlds, parallel dimensions, tentacled horrors, and surreal realities. Mind the ley lines… Release date to be announced SOON!”

Susurrus

Susurrus Ten Headed Skeleton 2025 indie horror

Writer/Director/Composer Ten-Headed Skeleton is back with another indie horror film for you to check out – Susurruss! I’ll let him explain it in his own words:

Susurrus — a one-hour experimental horror film that exists at the intersection of visual poetry and existential dread.

Deeply inspired by the patient stillness of Chantal Akerman, the hypnotic bleakness of Béla Tarr, and the spiritual melancholy of Andrei Tarkovsky, Susurrus is a film that doesn’t just tell a story — it watches it erode.

Told almost entirely through long, wide, and mesmerizing shots, Susurrus moves at a glacial pace, inviting the viewer into a liminal space where time seems to slow and the boundaries of identity, memory, and space begin to dissolve.

Threaded with the uncanny logic and surreal unease of David Lynch, the film’s structure is puzzle-like — looping, disorienting, and quietly terrifying.”

If you’d like to watch Susurrus, Ten-Headed Skeleton has uploaded the entire film on his YouTube channel to watch for free!

Blood Brothers: Life Harvest

Blood Brothers 2025 Indie Horror Brit Sellers

This email came to me from Brittany Sellers: “I am the director of the newly released zombie horror film Blood Brothers: Life Harvest which is now available on Amazon Prime. We are an indie film studio, and this is a zombie film about family, sacrifice, and the struggle to survive. It was the last work of my mother Diana Firefly, who passed earlier this year from breast cancer. It meant a lot to us as a lot of the emotions we felt during her illness is evident and present in the film itself.”

Further in the email, she described the plot of Blood Brothers: Life Harvest: “When a rabies like human virus floods the country and as panicking survivors become just as deadly as the infected, brothers Enoch and Aaron must fight to protect their family no matter what, but when Enoch is infected with the virus and slowly begins turning into a zombie, Aaron finds that he can no longer trust his older brother and comes to ask himself the question; is blood thicker than water? Described as ‘a thinking man’s zombie film’ Blood Brothers: Life Harvest is a new zombie horror movie with heart, style, and brains…”

Raw File

Aaron Dobson Raw File 2025 Christopher Sutcliffe horror

Producer Christopher Sutcliffe had this to say about his new found footage horror film: “Raw File is the epitome of Zero budget, guerrilla film making. Created by myself and Aaron Dobson while we were working as concierges. Between shifts we worked on the project, utilizing the 24-hour access to our work/apartment building, pulling in friends and residents to fill out the cast, and filling every role in the film making process between the two of us. We are open to any and all critical feedback, both positive and negative!”

Raw File is live NOW on The B-Stream, Amazon Prime UK, Tubi, Roku, PlayNow Media, Found TV, Creepy Popcorn, and more! You can also watch the Raw File trailer on the Terror Films YouTube channel.

Dream Eater

Dream Eater 2025

Canadian indie horror trio Jay Drakulic, Mallory Drumm, and Alex Lee Williams AKA Blind Luck Pictures got a major win recently when their found footage film Dream Eater was picked up by Eli Roth’s The Horror Section!

Dream Eater is co-written and co-directed by Jay Drakulic, Mallory Drumm, and Alex Lee Williams and stars Mallory and Alex. The plot was described to me as follows: “During their holiday at a cabin deep in the snowy Laurentian mountains, Mallory documents her boyfriend Alex’s violent parasomnia. When his sleepwalking gets worse, Mallory suspects the cause may be something far more sinister than a mere sleep disorder. Using her expertise as a documentary filmmaker, Mallory digs into Alex’s shadowy past and begins to unravel a decades long mystery steeped in trauma and the occult. As darkness closes in, an ancient evil awakens – plunging the couple into a downward spiral of madness and horror that threatens to destroy more than just their relationship. By the time the end credits roll, Dream Eater will have you questioning who you’re really sleeping next to at night.”

Dream Eater will hit theaters on October 24th! In the meantime, you can check out the trailer for this Fall 2025 indie horror feature film on The Horror Section’s YouTube channel.

No Tears In Hell

No Tears in Hell 2025 indie horror movie

From the email I received: “Scatena & Rosner Films is proud to announce the release of writer/director Michael Caissie’s haunting serial killer horror feature No Tears in Hell. Based on the true story of notorious Russian serial killer Alexander Spesivtsev, the film stars Luke Baines (Shadowhunters, A Dark Place) in an uncompromising portrayal of the brutal Spesivtsev – whose heinous crimes in the early ’90s earned him the nickname the Siberian Ripper – and the late Gwen Van Dam (Star Trek: Generations) as Alexander’s enabling and overbearing mother.”

No Tears in Hell is available to watch NOW on digital and VOD platforms!

The Demoness

Writer/Director Andrew de Burgh (The Seductress from Hell) wrote in to proudly announce he’s just completed post-production on his horror-fantasy feature film, The Demoness!

The Demoness stars Akihiro Kitamura (The Human Centipede), Riley Nottingham (V/H/S Halloween), Bella Glanville (After the Hunt), Haruka Igarashi (Shogun), Dallas Schaefer (Daisy Jones & The Six), and Amelia Gotham (The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild). It also features cinematography by Matt Fore (Godzilla), makeup design by Brittany Jamison-Lackey (Bridgerton), and sound design in surround sound by Steve Campagna (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker).

Andrew de Burgh didn’t share any specifics on when The Demoness will be available for all of us to watch; however, he did mention that his 10-episode revenge subgenre series The Twisted Doll is now available on ZEE5!

Hemet, or the Landlady Don’t Drink Tea

Hemet poster

Publicist Dan Butler wrote in to tell me about the 89-minute indie horror satire film Hemet, Or the Landlady Don’t Drink Tea from Bayview Entertainment. He said it’s about “a controlling landlady who manipulates her tenants during an epidemic, causing paranoia that leads to many consequences.” It’s now available VOD worldwide.

Bigfoot Breeds

Bigfoot Breeds

Jared Masters of Frolic Pictures wrote in to say: “Prepare yourselves for the greatest creature feature of all time! Bigfoot Breeds isn’t just a movie; it’s a cinematic event that will redefine the horror-comedy genre. We’re talking groundbreaking special effects (mostly practical, because we’re not cowards!), a script so sharp it could shave a yeti, and performances that will make you question your sanity (in the best possible way, of course). This isn’t your grandma’s cozy, family-friendly Bigfoot flick. Oh no. This is the kind of movie that will have you simultaneously clutching your pearls and spilling your popcorn from laughter.”

Bigfoot Breeds is currently in production and we may hear more about it at some point. In the meantime, Jared Masters wants everyone to know that his film Feral Female is now available to watch On Demand, VHS, and DVD. He had this to say about that one: “Brutally mangled bodies are piling up in LA’s Griffith Park, where a teenage savage beast lurks, with a thirst for blood. A deranged woman? A barbaric serial killer? Kate Lý Johnston stars as the merciless, undomesticated Ebba. Left in the woods the day she was born. Raised by wolves, she survived! Now in her prime and curious about the twinkling lights of the city. Its citizens are making her hungry. Who among them will be ripped apart by her fangs? Written, directed, and starring Jared Masters as Nigel B. Shearing, an eccentric, big-game hunter, hired to put a swift end to this madness. But it won’t be easy or without consequence, because this little wide-eyed creature’s trail of carnage is unstoppable!”

Snake Resort

Lone Gunslinger Pictures wrote this about their 2025 indie horror film, Snake Resort: “An aggressive rattlesnake sets its sights on an Arizona RV Park. After escaping a laboratory in the remote desert. After snowbirds have left for the summer, a small remaining group of residents come face to face with a highly poisonous predator.”

Snake Resort is now available to watch via Vimeo On Demand as of September 2025.

Written and directed by Seabold Krebs, Bury Me When I’m Dead is a 90-minute supernatural/psychological horror drama that’s available now on digital and VOD.

Per their rep’s email: “Bury Me When I’m Dead follows Henry, a man whose life spirals out of control after failing to keep his wife’s dying wish. Meanwhile Henry’s been keeping a secret: their friend Rebecca is pregnant with his child. After Catherine’s sudden death, Henry breaks his promise and returns her body to the city under threat from her powerful father, Gary.

The weight of Henry’s betrayal to Catherine and fear of her overbearing father, pushes him to the edge. As his life quickly begins to unravel, a series of increasingly strange and devastating events lead him to believe that Catherine’s ghost is seeking vengeance.”

Stygian

Stygian nordic indie horror

Writer/Director Alexander wrote to me about his Nordic horror film, Stygian. He said, “Stygian is a slow-burning psychological horror film inspired by Hereditary, The Witch, and Antichrist. Set deep in the Nordic wilderness and grounded in Scandinavian folklore, the film follows Erik — a man who isolates himself after personal collapse, only to be consumed by something older than memory. Atmospheric, personal, and rooted in true events, Stygian explores the quiet disintegration of identity and the dread of being truly alone.”

The Stygian team has their script and cast finalized. They’re currently doing an “ongoing search for the right producer to anchor the project” and plan to start filming by April 2026. If you’re interested in supporting this project, reach out to Alexander at Godhouse Productions.

Fall 2025 Indie Horror Short Films

Horror Spell

Horror Spell 2025 indie horror short film

Writer/Director Daniel Ziegler’s 21-minute film Horror Spell has been making the rounds at film festivals for the past month. It just showed at Tucson, Arizona’s HorrOrigins Film Festival and the Chicago Horror Film Fest in September. Horror Spell‘s next stops are the Halloween International Film Festival in Manteo, North Carolina on October 4th; The Thing in the Basement Horror Fest in Bremerton, Washington on November 1st; and YoFiFest/The Yonkers Film Festival in Yonkers, New York on November 7th-16th.

Horror Spell tells the story of a Halloween movie marathon that turns deadly when a grieving college student casts a spell that brings the horror films to life. It combines classic Halloween imagery with four different styles of horror filmmaking through the decades,” said David Ziegler, adding, “I wanted to explore the sometimes traumatic, sometimes therapeutic relationship I have with horror, and how the genre I once actively avoided has since become one of my favorites. Horror has been around since the beginning of film, and our short seeks to show that while the styles have evolved, the stories and emotions are timeless.”

If you’re attending any of the horror film festivals mentioned above, keep an eye out for Horror Spell! This film may or may not be released online (follow the Black Box Films Instagram page for updates) after its festival run – Ziegler will let everyone know. In the meantime, check out the trailer on his YouTube channel and let him know who your favorite pumpkin is! (I like them all, but I’m particularly fond of the vintage fellow!).

Dinner with the Joneses

Dinner with the Jones Christina Cooper

Christina Cooper wrote to me to announce that her horror short film, Dinner with the Joneses, received an Austin Horror Film Fest Nomination and will be screening at the festival on Saturday, October 11th. (Check it out if you’re in the area!).

After the festival, Dinner with the Joneses will be available on YouTube for ALL of us to watch in late October 2025!

“The 4-minute short is about a 1950’s family, seemingly perfect from the outside, who normalizes a bizarre tradition. Social commentary is served with a dark and macabre twist. I think it could be a great fit for your audience of horror fans!” said Christina Cooper.

What We Buried

According to his representative, Jessica Ross, The Corporate Zombie Survival Guide is “Far from a gimmick, this guide draws shocking parallels between zombie lore and modern workplace culture — complete with survival strategies for fighting burnout, reclaiming creativity, and escaping the ‘horde mind’ of corporate life. It’s timely, relevant, and perfect for your readers who love horror with brains (pun intended).”

Éire Amulet Mystery

Erie Amulet Mystery JD Rosen

JD Rosen wrote in about their new novel, Éire Amulet Mystery, now available on Amazon in eBook and paperback formats.

“The project combines elements of psychological thriller, historical drama, and Irish folklore-inspired fantasy. Its atmosphere resonates with films such as The Others, The Witch, and The Devil’s Doorway,” said JD Rosen, adding, “I am reaching out because I believe the story has strong potential for a film adaptation.”

So, if any indie horror filmmakers are reading this and are interested in adapting Éire Amulet Mystery into a movie, you can find/contact the author by searching “J.D. Rosen Author Page” on Facebook.

Phantoms and Folklore

Phantoms and Folklore Austin Muratori

From indie horror writer & filmmaker Austin Muratori: “Step into the shadows where the line between reality and nightmare blurs. Phantoms and Folklore is a chilling anthology of six original tales, each steeped in the eerie traditions of classic horror. From spectral hauntings to cosmic horrors beyond comprehension, these stories draw inspiration from masters like Edgar Allan Poe and H.P. Lovecraft, weaving dread, suspense, and the uncanny into every page.

Dare to turn the pages… but beware: once you glimpse the phantoms that linger in folklore, you may find their whispers following you long after the book is closed.

It will be releasing on Amazon. People can follow me on Facebook @Austin Muratori or on Instagram @ am_film_dude!”

Fall 2025 Indie Horror Audio

The DeGrave Brothers

Degrave Brothers Podcast TS OBanion

T.S. O’Banion, creator of the horror-comedy podcast The DeGrave Brothers, wrote in to announce he just wrapped the first season of his show!

“On the surface it’s about two deadbeat grave-robbing brothers who stumble into monsters, demons, and supernatural mayhem — think Evil Dead II meets a midnight movie marathon,” said O’Banion, adding, “What makes this project unusual is how it was made. I handled everything myself: writing, producing, sound design, editing, directing, casting, and performing most of the voices. Aside from a few guest roles, the entire show is a one-man operation. It’s been described as gory, unfiltered, and gleefully violent in a way you don’t often hear in audio dramas — closer to grindhouse cinema than traditional podcast storytelling.”

Give The DeGrave Brothers a listen!

[REDACTED]

REDACTED horror audio drama

Johnathan Magno AKA Athan wrote in to announce that [REDACTED], the fictional horror audio drama he co-created, will be launching on the Rusty Quill network (known for The Magnus Archives) in a three-part premiere on November 8th at 9pm CST.

“[REDACTED] is a show about Jacob Kane, a failing actor desperate for a fresh start who assumes the identity of his deceased twin, Jordan. What he expects to be a simple accounting job turns out to be something far stranger: a position within THE [REDACTED] UNIT, an underfunded agency tasked with discreetly handling bizarre and often dangerous paranormal cases.” said Johnathan Magno/Athan.

Additionally, you can check out TheRedactedUnit.com for more about the upcoming show as well as watch interviews with the cast, their guest writers (including Jeffrey Reddick and Trevor Henderson), and more!

Sparks

Sparks podcast David McCool

Compared to Donnie Darko, Twin Peaks, and Slaughterhouse 5, the 20th and final episode of Sparks – “a bizarre, lo-fi, psychological horror podcast” – just came out. David McCool, a Poland-based British writer and the creator of Sparks, was proud to announce that he recently acquired representation and his show is in the “very early stages” of getting a TV adaptation. Before that becomes a reality, he’d love for our readers to listen to the original show.

When I asked David McCool for a blurb/summary describing his show, he said: “An unnamed man walks into a therapist’s office, panicked and unable to explain what’s wrong. She asks him, as homework, to write down the answer to the question, ‘What happened in your life that prompted you to seek help in therapy?’ These are the strange, intimate tapes of Patient 347.”

“I’m vague in the blurb on purpose as it’s best to go in absolutely cold.” McCool said, adding, “It’s available basically on all podcast platforms.” Here’s a link to the Sparks RSS feed if you’d like to listen to all 20 episodes!

“Cronenberged” / REVOCATION

The heavy metal band REVOCATION just released their new album New Gods, New Masters and would love for you to watch the music video for the album’s first single, “Cronenberged.” My metalhead husband, Frank Spear, enjoyed the track stating that it was “high energy with good dirty vocals!” (Note: If you’re in a public place, you may want to utilize headphones as this track is both loud and has a few F-bombs – oh my!).

“I’m a massive sci-fi horror fan and love the body horror genre that David Cronenberg helped to create so this is my homage to that. Also, shout out to Rick And Morty for inspiring the song title,” said REVOCATION founder/vocalist/guitarist Dave Davidson, adding, “The video for ‘Cronenberged’ features tons of gore and practical effects! It was so fun to create a little mini sci-fi horror movie for this track. Getting to transform into a hideous tentacle monster was a real treat. I knew things were going well when the My Good Eye film crew were gagging at how gross it was off screen.”

Other Fall 2025 Indie Horror Stuff

Somebody’s Baby (Horror Screenplay – looking for buyers!)

Somebodys Baby 2025 indie horror Allie Markova

I got an email from a lovely multi-talented young woman named Allie Markova who has SO gosh-darned much going on with her indie horror career, I didn’t know which section of the Round-up to include her in!!

I think the main thing she’d like to get out to horror fans and/or industry pros is that she’s written a new screenplay, Somebody’s Baby, and she’s looking to get it made into a feature horror film. Here’s what was in her Press Release about that:

Somebody’s Baby, a surreal horror-comedy screenplay by writer and actress Allie Markova, has received the Special Jury Award for Screenplay at the Los Angeles Film Awards (July 2025)—a recognition of excellence in filmmaking, awarded for the project’s distinctive voice, visual clarity, and emotional depth.

The script is also a semi-finalist at Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival, and is currently hosted on The Black List, where it’s gaining momentum among both horror fans and industry readers.

Set in 1987 Rhode Island, the story blends dry humor, queer panic, and surreal dread into something that feels darkly funny and deeply familiar—especially if you’ve ever been misjudged before you’ve had the chance to speak.

Logline: A closeted teen beauty queen and her punk best friend are pursued across 1987 Rhode Island by a psychotic trucker who believes they’ve kidnapped a baby. They haven’t.”

Allie Markova also let me know that she’s a first-generation American actress and screenwriter whose work “explores identity, grief, queerness, and chaos through horror.” And that before she started working in film, she trained mountain lions and worked as a funeral director. AND she’s currently starring in a 2025 indie horror series from the Bloody Disgusting universe, which will stream on Screambox later this year! WHEW!! Busy busy busy!

If anyone reading this is interested in Allie Markova’s horror screenplay, Somebody’s Baby, or casting her as an actress in their next indie horror film, contact her through her IMDb page (linked above) or follow/message her on Instagram at @AllieMarkova!

When Jump Scare? (Resource/Website)

when jump scare

The creator of WhenJumpScare.com reached out to me saying, “I’m reaching you because I’ve developed a website that addresses a common frustration many horror fans face: unpredictable jump scares that spoil the experience or make it hard to recommend films to friends who are sensitive or anxious.”

Similar to resources like DoesTheDogDie.com (a site I now use before any first-time movie watch on The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs!), the small France-based When Jump Scare? team are striving to build a resource that will give horror film viewers a head’s up before films’ most startling or loud moments. They have timestamps for when jump scares appear – with or without spoilers.

Their horror movie “jump scare” database is extremely small right now, but it has potential. If you’d like to contribute to their growing community-catered list of timestamps to warn others about shocking moments – or if you want to see if a film you’re interested in but nervous about watching is listed – check ’em out!
