Our podcast has retired but our tri-annual Indie Horror Inbox Roundups are going MONTHLY! Learn how you can share news about YOUR new or upcoming indie horror project on HorrorFam.com!

Now Accepting MONTHLY Indie Horror Submissions

Hey, Fam! Lauren Spear here. As you most likely gathered from the title of this post, I’m now accepting MONTHLY indie horror submissions!

The Indie Horror Inbox Roundup Will Be Published February – December

Instead of showcasing the indie horror creators who email me with their amazing projects three times per year, I’m now going to be sharing their projects ELEVEN times per year! (I’m still taking January off to reset after the winter holidays).

In the past, I only published my Indie Horror Inbox Roundups on the first Friday of February, June, and October. Starting in June of 2026, I’ll be sharing creator-submitted indie horror projects on the first Friday of February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, and December.

It felt silly and unhelpful to hold onto messages sent to my inbox in March (right after the February roundup) to be published in June… Now, I’ll be able to get creators’ news about their new/upcoming projects out in a more timely manner.

If YOU are an indie horror creator who has a project you’d like more eyes on, email me via the brand new Indie Horror Inbox Roundup Submission Form! As long as it’s legitimately horror-related, I’m interested. I share feature films, short films, novels, comic books, video games, tabletop games, music, podcasts, and more.

I’m really excited and can’t wait to see all the amazing things you’ve been creating!

I do have some sad news to share though…

The HorrorFam.com Podcast Is Being Retired

In the past, I shared my Indie Horror Inbox Roundups (creator-submitted updates about their new & upcoming indie horror projects) three times per year and then did video interviews with one horror creator on the HorrorFam.com Podcast on the third Friday of every month. You may have noticed that, in 2026, I only updated the podcast in January. I don’t want to kill the good mood, so I’ll keep this short:

Our furry daughter (and my unofficial co-host), Tina Spear, was diagnosed with end-stage liver failure on January 26th. The bulk of my time behind-the-scenes was dedicated to her care. Plus, even before The End happened, I spent much of this year depressed and pre-grieving and very much did not want to be filmed. Now, after her passing, after months of reflection, I’ve fully accepted what I’ve always known – I’m WAY better at writing than I am at speaking aloud. And I can help so many MORE people if I stick to what I’m actually good/comfortable at.

I absolutely LOVED listening to the creators I interviewed on the HorrorFam.com Podcast. My guests totally carried the show! Zero regrets. I’m still in touch with nearly all of them! But I can’t deny that my own social awkwardness made it difficult on my end.

I’m VERY MUCH LOOKING FORWARD TO interacting with even MORE creators via writing! (And I still intend to do the occasional article Read Aloud, as requested, for those who truly want an audio version of posts. Those are primarily voiceovers where I don’t have to be on camera and I can take breaks to berate myself for slip-ups without anyone else seeing).

If you’re interested in watching, I’ve made a short memorial video to Frank and my baby girl and some of her funniest moments on HorrorFam.com:

I’d also like to give a shoutout to Ande Thomas of WhatSleepsBeneath.com! Ande was scheduled to be the February 2026 guest on the HorrorFam.com Podcast but, the day he was to be interviewed (January 22nd), Tina had to be rushed to the vet. Ande has been SUPER COOL about ALL of this and is now one of our friends! Ande, his wife, and the rest of their team are doing really fun things on WhatSleepsBeneath.com and, even though our interview didn’t happen, I still wanted to let you guys know about them. I’ve been enjoying their articles for a while now and I think you will too. Hip hip hooray for even more HUMAN-made horror content online!! Show ’em some love.

Whew. Enough sad. Let’s wrap this up on a happy note!

I’m looking forward to sharing YOUR indie horror projects!!

If you’re a creator, I can’t wait to hear from you! If you’re a reader who loves indie horror, be sure to check back on the first Friday of every month for the newest Indie Horror Inbox Roundup! The next edition will be going up on June 5, 2026. It’s going to be a blast.

Thank you ALL for reading through this personal update. Our regular articles will resume next Friday (May 15, 2026).
