What’s Streaming Where?! October 2021 Horror Movies Streaming for Halloween

Now that it’s officially Spooky Month, friends and family members have been asking me “Where’s [horror movie] streaming right now?” And then I’d go track down [horror movie] and report back to them.

Anyway! I figured YOU might like to know “what’s streaming where” — in regard to horror and/or films with Halloween vibes — for October 2021.

This isn’t a list of every horror movie available right now (that would be pure insanity on my part to even attempt writing all that!), but this list of streaming horror movies for Halloween month is pretty darn hefty. Basically, I went through each of the streaming platforms currently available to me and wrote down the horror movies I’ve seen (for better or worse haha), movies HorrorFam.com writers have talked about, and movies I’ve specifically been asked about (for example, “Where are the Hammer movies?” and “Who has all the old Universal Monsters films?”).

Below, organized by release date, is my MASSIVE list of which horror movies are streaming on Amazon Prime Video, HBO Max, Disney+, Netflix, Peacock, Hulu, Tubi, and Shudder. Have fun, Fam! ♥

Quick Note: I’m only including films that can be watched with the basic versions of each streaming service (no add-ons/extensions) and I’m not going to review any of the movies below (this post is long enough as it is!), but I’ll link to any related HorrorFam.com posts that you can click on if you’d like more information. 🙂 I’ll include some photos here and there to add a lil visual fun and break up all the text.

So, yeah, technically you “can” watch The Craft (1996), The Blair Witch Project (1999), or Paranormal Activity (2007) – a few of the Halloween favorites I was asked about this season – but you’d have to pay an additional streaming fee. >_< Anyway… here’s what Hulu’s got available if you don’t have any additional add-ons:

Shudder

Shudder is pretty much ALL horror movies!! A while back, I said publicly that they didn’t have a whole lotta stuff… But they’ve kicked it up several notches since then and their streaming catalog has been massively expanded!

Of course, the main attraction this month is Joe Bob’s Halloween Hoedown (Oct. 8 at 6PM Pacific) with our pal Diana Prince as Darcy the Mail Girl. But there’s a ton of other stuff available as well. Plus, they have cute Jack-o-lantern streams — The Ghoul Log, Return of the Ghoul Log, and 2021’s Night of the Ghoul Log — that are a Halloween-y take on those Christmas yule log videos. Adorable!

Can’t Find Your Horror Favorites?

If you can’t find something on the above streaming services, try YouTube! Sometimes movies will show up there for free – like Teen Witch (1989) – or you can rent movies like Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948) for a small fee.

PlutoTV also has a TON of horror movies right now! Or, at least, it looked like they do… I had a lot of trouble navigating their user interface and eventually got frustrated and gave up. But from what I did see on there, I was very impressed!

You can also use Google and type in “watch [name of movie]” or “[name of movie] streaming” and you’ll probably be able to find what you’re after.

Have fun! And let me know what you’re watching this month!!
